Blackmer process compressors provide efficient and quiet delivery of oil-free gas or air. These heavy-duty single and two-stage compressors combine advanced design technology and state-of-the-art materials to give maximum performance with minimum maintenance.
These compressors are well suited for handling a wide range of industrial gases, including propane, butane, butadiene, propylene, vinyl chloride and chemical intermediates as well as many others, such as ammonia, carbon dioxide, refrigerants, air and nitrogen.
Depending on your gas application, single, double or triple-seal models are available. Double-seal models eliminate oil contamination and provide leakage control. But where expensive, hazardous or toxic gases are involved, and added contamination control is required, a triple-seal model is recommended. single-seal models are also available for less critical applications.
Blackmer offers a full line of air and water-cooled models, with capacities from 5 to 125 CFM (2 to 212 m³/h), and working pressures up to 615 psia (4241 kPa).

HIGH PERFORMANCE DESIGN FEATURES
DUCTILE IRON CONSTRUCTION
All pressure parts are ductile iron for greater resistance to both thermal and mechanical shock.
O-RING SEALS - HEAD AND CYLINDER
The head and cylinder are sealed with O-rings to ensure positive sealing under severe operating conditions.
Buna-N, Viton®, Neoprene® Teflon® or Ethylene-Propylene O-rings are also available.
LIVE LOADED PISTON ROD SEALS
Filled Teflon® seals are wear compensating, and maintain a constant sealing pressure around the piston rods with minimum friction.
This special seal design prevents crankcase oil contamination and cylinder blow-by.
INTERCOOLERS
Air-cooled two-stage units feature an oversize steel tube and fin intercooler, which provides maximum heat dissipation for cooler operation.
Water-cooled intercoolers are also available in a variety of materials to meet your specific application requirements.
PRESSURE LUBRICATD CRANKCASE
A self-reversing rotary oil pump provides positive oil distribution to all running gear components for long life and minimal wear. The oil pump is easily removable for service.
HEAVY-DUTY PRECISION GROUND CRANKSHAFT
The ductile iron crankshaft features roller bearings and integral counterweights for smooth, quiet operation. Rifle drilling ensures positive oil distribution to the wrist pin and connecting rod bearings.
HIGH EFFICIENCY, PEEK VALVES
Blackmer valves are specifically designed for oil-free gas applications.
Standard valve plates are constructed of self-lubricating PEEK (Poly Ether Ether Ketone) material that provides superior sealing characteristics and high efficiency.
These nonmetallic valve plates offer greater durability and extended service life. Optional stainless steel Hoerbiger valves are also available. Note: PEEK valve plates are standard on all models except the HD 160 and HD 170 series, which have TNT-12 impregnated steel valves.
SELF-LUBRICATING PISTON RINGS
Extra-thick, self-lubricating filled Teflon® piston rings provide more wear surface for maximum sealing and extended life.
ONE PIECE PISTON
Heavy-duty steel pistons are connected to the rod with a single positive locking nut which eliminates potential problems associated with multiple piece designs.
SINGLE OR DOUBLE DISTANCE PIECE
Blackmer process compressors are available with a single or double distance piece (isolation chambers), which controls contamination of compressed gas from crankcase lubricant, even at high vacuum inlet conditions. Each isolation chamber may be independently purged, pressurized or vented for maximum containment of toxic or hazardous gases.
WEAR-RESISTANT CROSSHEAD ASSEMBLIES
Designed with special machined lube channels and porting for maximum lubrication and wear resistance.
